Da Vinci Usability's recent projects include:

User analysis, task analysis, information architecture and user interface design for a web-based performance evaluation application.

Cogentric needed to design a web-based application that would let businesses assess the security and performance of their web operations. The application needed to present detailed assessment results in a way that would be clear to senior business management, senior IT management, and IT operations. By performing a user and task analysis, Da Vinci Usability identified the key functions that needed to be represented in the user interface. An information architecture was then designed that organized the disparate data that needed to be presented, and designed the user interface to present this data in a clear and concise manner.

User interface architecture for a suite of financial services processing applications.

When a major financial services company wanted to web-enable the data processing applications of their institutional operations division, they called upon Da Vinci Usability for assistance. The challenge in this project was to design a browser based user interface that could replace existing legacy systems that were both characters and Windows based. The UI needed to be easy to learn and easy to use, while at the same time it needed to support the heads-down data entry that the department needed to be productive. Da Vinci Usability worked in a multi-fuctional team composed of usability engineers, web developers, graphic designers, business managers and user representatives to design a desktop and user interface architecture that would support development of a suite of web-enabled applications.

User interface style guide for web-enabled processing applications

After designing the user interface architecture for a suite of financial services processing applications for a major financial services company (described above), Da Vinci Usability was asked to design and write a style guide to support development of applications within this UI architecture. This browser-based style guide documented all of the details of the UI architecture in a detailed yet easy to understand format.

Corporate web-based user interface standards

Like many large companies, a major financial services company had web development occurring on many fronts - internet, intranet, and internal web-enabled applications, with different groups responsible for each area. To ensure the quality of all of their web-based UI development efforts, Da Vinci Usability participated in writing and developing a web site detailing corporate user interface standards. Since these standards applied to so many different types of web sites and applications, they had to be broad enough so that they did not limit design opportunities, yet specific enough to provide helpful information to guide web development teams. The standards captured the company's best practices in user interface design, gathering knowledge from disparate areas into a single location accessible for the entire company.

Information architecture and user interface design for a suite of phone center support application

Da Vinci Usability conducted redesign of a suite of ten applications used by a major financial services company's phone center. We conducted contextual interviews of phone associates, and wrote summary report to management recommending UI requirements for new system design. We then conducted focus groups of users and management to collect functional and UI requirements. Conducted task analysis of all phone center processing tasks. Lead multidisciplinary teams in design of new user interface for applications. Created UI prototype for new applications. Conducted multiple rounds of usability testing, documented usability testing results and recommendations, and presented results to management. Wrote application user interface standards. Conducted follow-up focus groups and interviews after application was launched to determine success of the application and to gather requirements for future project phases.

Corporate user centered design methodology

Da Vinci Usability wrote a corporate user centered design methodology and prepared examples and templates of all user centered design deliverables for a major financial services company. We then instituted the user centered design methodology as part of their standard system design methodology.

Corporate client-server user interface standards

Da Vinci Usability wrote corporate UI standards for client-server applications.
